Chad Smith is a powerhouse saxophonist and elite multi-woodwind specialist whose career spans Broadway, Hollywood, and concert stages across the United States. A Broadway veteran since 2002, he has performed in productions including Legally Blonde, Follies, and A Christmas Story, and has been a member of the orchestra for Wicked since 2008. His versatility across bassoon, baritone saxophone, bass clarinet, clarinet, and flute has led to collaborations with leading orchestras and artists including the Philadelphia Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Metropolitan Opera, Tony Bennett, Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, Lady Gaga, Audra McDonald, and The Temptations.Since 2012, Chad has been a sought-after studio musician, performing on major film, television, and streaming projects for Disney, Pixar, Lucasfilm, and Netflix, including Star Wars: The Last Jedi, West Side Story, Toy Story 5, and The Devil Wears Prada 2. He has also performed with the Academy and Tony Awards orchestras. Alongside his performing career, Chad is an Adjunct Professor of Saxophone at Montclair State University, where he founded the Masters in Multiple Woodwinds program, the Montclair State Broadway Repertory Ensemble, and the Broadway Institute. He is also the creator of SAXOPHILM: Sounds and Sights of the Roaring 20’s, a frequent clinician and guest lecturer, and a Selmer Artist and D’Addario Clinician.
